North Hills Minister of Music Receives International Recognition

North Hills Minister of Music, Robert G. Olsavicky, II received the Strathmore’s Who’s Who Award February 2, 2010.  This award is based on one’s position and lifetime of accomplishments.  Inclusion is limited to individuals who have demonstrated leadership and achievement in their occupation, industry or profession.

Mr. Olsavicky received his Bachelor of Music and Masters in Sacred Music from Duquesne University and Masters in Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University.  He is a member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

His research  – Masters Treatise THE CHURCH GROWTH MOVEMENT AND ITS IMPACT ON 21st CENTURY WORSHIP was published in April 2004 in THE AMERICAN ORGANIST (the international professional journal of the AMERICAN GUILD OF ORGANISTS.)  This piece was quoted extensively by UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL RELIGION CORRESPONDNT Uwe Siemon-Netto in the following articles “Faith: new generation is looking back”  “The millennial generation and worship” and picked up by many American newspapers as well as internationally.  A German columnist wrote, “This is a thorough, extensive and excellent piece of research”.  Likewise, a French columnist stated, “This is a major piece of research”.

As the co-founder & co-director of ACTS Adorned Christ Thru Song with Ladonna Linamen an interdenominational choir, orchestra and drama Christian Arts organization, Mr. Olsavicky brings a rare combination of traditional and contemporary Christian music to audiences young and old alike.

Churches and their music have embraced contemporary forms of worship over the past decade.  Mr. Olsavicky has served a number of churches since 1967 and has studied extensively to stay abreast of this movement to deliver ongoing musical ministry and musical direction at his current position as Director of Music for Hampton Presbyterian Church.
